The Trillium Name
Reflecting a new organization with a new vision, Trillium Health Centre's name speaks significantly to an expanded role that encompasses both regional and provincial health programs.
The trillium's three petals represent Trillium Health Centre's
three-fold mission of Patient Care, Teaching and Research.
Similarly, the trillium has pairs of three leaves representing
our local programs such as the Emergency Care Centre, our
Regional programs such as Neurosurgery, and our Provincial
programs such as Cardiac Services. The three petals also signify
the three locations where we provide care, treatment and services
in the Community, on an Outpatient basis, and on an
Inpatient basis.
Moving away from the term 'hospital', Trillium selected 'Health Centre' because today's care is received in the home, in the community, on an outpatient/ambulatory basis and only as a last resort in a hospital.
