Shaping future health care through hospital membership

If you have ever given consideration to contributing to the positive evolution of health care in your community, Trillium is offering residents an avenue to do just that. Our membership program is designed to encourage greater community participation in the hospital’s ongoing development, as well as to keep those with a keen interest in health care issues up-to-date on hospital happenings.

As a hospital on the forefront of heart, spine, and neurosurgery, Trillium is quickly gaining recognition as one of Ontario’s health care leaders and the hospital would like its community to be a part of that growing success.

Membership offers an opportunity to serve the hospital and provide a community connection to the Board of Directors. Members have the ability to elect the Board of Directors at the Annual General Meeting, to be held on June 9, 2011 this year. As a group that would become knowledgeable of hospital issues and concerns, the membership would also provide a talent pool from which to draw future Board and committee members. Some key membership benefits outlined by the hospital include:

  • Nominating candidates for the Board
  • Attending Annual General Meeting
  • Electing Board of Directors
  • Approving by-law changes
  • Appointing auditors
  • Receiving financial statements
  • Receiving advance notice of special events
  • Wallet-sized membership card

The hospital charges an annual membership fee of $25.00 to cover printing and mailing costs. This nominal fee ensures dollars intended for health care are not directed to support membership activities. Membership runs from April 1st to March 31st consistent with our fiscal year. Only those members who have paid their membership fee more than 60 days prior to the Annual General Meeting may participate in the voting and election process. Members are expected to support and promote the objectives, mission, vision and values of the hospital, act in the best interest of the hospital and abide by the hospital by-laws.
