Benefits
Trillium Health
Centre is pleased to showcase an innovative benefits plan
for both full and part time employees. We are the first health
care organization in Canada to implement an innovative role
profiling methodology that has allowed us to:
- Accurately assess role accountabilities and competencies
within the organization
- Achieve pay equity within the organization
- Achieve market equity within the health care sector
Part-time
Traditionally, part-time
hospital employees have not had access to benefits. Instead
they have received a payment calculated as a percentage of
their salary, in lieu of benefits.
Trillium has designed
a package that allows non-union part-time staff who have completed
450 hours to choose whether or not they would like to join
in the benefit package. There is no obligation, no threshold.
Full-time
While all full-time
staff at Trillium are provided with a 'core' benefits program,
there is also the option of enhancing that core plan with
one of two optional plans that build upon what is already
provided.
Salary
Trillium is constantly
evaluating the salary level of its employees and the compensation
structures for physicians to remain competitive in the tight
health care employment market.
Vacation
Trillium's vacation
entitlement starts at 3 or 4 weeks.
Extended Health Care
Trillium offers
a shared Extended Health Care Plan with 25% covered by the
employee and 75% covered by the hospital. The plan includes
100% reimbursement for prescription drugs as well as coverage
for vision care, hospital care, emergency medical expenses
outside the province, various medical services and equipment,
and paramedical services.
Dental Care
Trillium offers
a shared Dental Care Plan with 25% covered by the employee
and 75% covered by the hospital. The Plan offers 100% coverage
for basic services and also includes coverage for orthodontia
services.
Life
Trillium offers
full-time staff Group Life as well as Optional Life coverage.
Non-union employees also have access to Accidental Death and
Dismemberment Insurance.
Disability
Both Short-Term
Sick (15 weeks) and Long-Term Disability coverage are provided.
Retirement
Retirement benefits
are offered through the Hospitals of Ontario Pension Plan
(HOOPP) only for employees who have participated. The plan
is mandatory for full-time employees and optional for part-time
staff.
Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
A comprehensive
Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is offered through FGI,
Canada's largest and most respected behavioural health service
provider. The program is a voluntary, confidential, short-term
counselling and advisory service that connects you and your
eligible family members to a network of dedicated professionals
who are available to give you assistance 24 hours a day.
Leaves of Absence
Many employees receive
unpaid leaves of absence at Trillium to pursue educational
opportunities or other employment opportunities in health
care organizations, the Ministry of Health and the private
sector. Trillium also supports paid leaves of absence.
Pregnancy and Parental Leaves of
Absence
Trillium tops up
Employment Insurance to 84% for a period of 25 weeks. For
members of CUPE, the top up is to 93%.
Canada Savings Bonds/RSP
The hospital offers
Canada Savings Bonds and RSP through payroll deduction.
Float Days
Trillium offers
two paid float days (in addition to 10 regular statutory holidays)
per year that each employee can take at his/her own discretion.
Social Club
Through payroll
deduction, employees can pay an annual fee to participate
in the hospital's social club – M.A.S.H. The club hosts
several events throughout the year including a summer picnic,
children's Christmas party and a Christmas Dinner and Dance.
The club also offers discounted tickets for a variety of entertainment
venues in and around the Greater Toronto Area.
Internal Communication
Trillium features
a monthly newsletter that provides up-to-date information
on Health Centre activities and profiles individuals, programs
and services. As well, the hospital has a portal that provides
online access to a staff directory, physician listings, learning
opportunities, job listings, project management tools, the
internal newsletter, the decision support guide and many other
features.
Other Benefits
Patient care areas
throughout the hospital offer spacious treatment areas, wide
hallways and private office spaces for patient care managers
and directors. Many nursing stations have recently been renovated,
offering greater enhancements in space, lighting and storage.
Both hospital sites
feature Tim Horton's franchises, volunteer-run gift shops,
bank machines, newspaper boxes and mailboxes. Outdoor picnic
tables and benches are available at both locations.
Trillium - Mississauga
also offers a Hasty Market, Pharma Plus and For Your Health
Juice Bar that provide a full range of aesthetic and massage
services.
Washroom facilities at both sites are
wheelchair accessible. Designated parking for the physically
challenged is available in both public and staff parking areas.
