
Learning Opportunities
As 'leaders in health innovation', we nurture a work environment
that promotes both personal and professional learning, creativity,
excellence and opportunity. Learning and development are central
to Trillium's overall strategic direction and we are committed
to supporting the lifelong learning of all staff.
Each area of the organization develops
an annual learning plan outlining the learning initiatives
necessary to maintain and enhance staff competencies and meet
Trillium goals and objectives. Individual learning plans are
developed for each employee as part of the hospital's comprehensive
Performance Development program. The initiatives include workshops,
conferences, training sessions and courses for staff and supervisors.
Bursary Program
Both full and part time employees are eligible to apply for
a Trillium bursary of up to $5,000 that can be used to offset
tuition fees, conference costs and study materials. The bursaries
are offered twice a year, and include a special scholarship
program for the children of employees who are pursuing a post
secondary education.
Back To School Conference
Each fall, Trillium Health Centre hosts an innovative and
thought-provoking two-day conference for staff, physicians
and volunteers featuring nationally and internationally-acclaimed
speakers on a variety of topics relevant to today's health
care environment. Past speakers have included Lance Secretan,
Bonnie Wesorick, Liz Jazwiec, Joe Flower, David Foot, Barbara
Underhill, and Karen Wright.
In-House Training
Trillium offers a wide variety of in-house training opportunities
for staff, volunteers and physicians either free of charge
or at reduced rates. Topic areas include:
- Clinical skills
- Computer training
- Communication
- Teamwork
- Customer service
- Change management
- Presentation skills
- Leadership Development
Job Shadowing
Unique in our industry,
our job-shadowing program enables staff to experience first-hand
other jobs at Trillium, as well as opportunities to shadow
positions in other workplaces.
