Medline
Plus is a reliable and trustworthy source of good consumer
health information from the U.S. National Library of Medicine.
The site provides authoritative, up to date information on
over 600 medical conditions, including over 150 interactive
tutorials. Also offered is access to a medical dictionary,
encyclopaedia, clinical trials, and drug information.
Mayo Clinic
An excellent site from the world renowned Mayo clinic in the
United States. Choose from an alphabetical subject list
of diseases and conditions, and you will be presented with
a comprehensive summary of the condition which includes description,
causes, diagnosis, treatment and management.
NOAH
- New York on-line Access to Health
An award-winning site produced jointly by several medical
and public libraries in New York, along with a number of local
and national health care providers. It is aimed at consumers,
clearly laid out and easy to navigate, and offers full text
access to information in English and Spanish on a wide variety
of health topics.

advice on lifestyle changes to promote health, plus the latest

Caring
for Kids
This excellent site has been developed by the Canadian
Paedriatric Society, and is designed to provide parents with
information about their child's health and well being.
Motherisk
This is the site of the Motherisk research program
at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto . It provides
authoritative information regarding the risks to the fetus
associated with drug, chemical, infection, disease and radiation
exposures during pregnancy.
KidsHealth
There is much useful and reliable information to
be found at this site, which is divided into three separate
sections for children, teens, and parents - each with its
own design and age-appropriate contents. This award-winning
site has been developed and is maintained by the Nemours Foundation's
Center for Children's Health Media in the United States.

Canadian Women's Health Network
The CWHN is a network of individuals, groups, organizations
and institutions concerned with women's health. Their site
provides information on health issues pertinent to women,
as well as links to women's organizations and advocacy groups
across the country.

Women's health experts from Sunnybrook & Women's College
Health Sciences Centre and the Centre for Research in Woman's
Health developed this site and play an ongoing role in its
expansion and review. It provides the latest information,
news and research findings on women's health, diseases and
lifestyle trends.
The
Ontario Women's Health Network
The OWHN promotes women's health by linking women
to relevant tools and resources, and by providing channels
to voice women's health concerns. The site offers information
on health conditions specific to women, and features a fully
searchable directory of women's service throughout the province.
Society
of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada
This site, whilst aimed at health professionals, also offers
helpful information for the consumer. Click on Public Education
at the homepage for access to both the Society's publications
and authoritative articles on pregnancy, childbirth, menopause
and other related topics.
National
Women's Health Information Centre
The NWHIC is a project of the U.S. Department
of Health and Human Services, and its site is a very comprehensive
source for women's health matters. The link View All Topics
at the homepage gives access to clearly presented information,
categorized under subject headings.

Canada Online - Men's Health
The Health Canada site has a good page of links to information
on men's health, although many of these lead to general information
about a condition rather than its specific application to
men. However, the site does provide some useful material
on sexual and reproductive health, risky behaviours, and family
violence, amongst other topics.

Male Health Centres
This is a Canadian organization which provides patients
with information and treatment for erectile dysfunction and
prostate disease. Similarly, there is useful information on
prostate diseases and links to other sources of information.
BBCi
Your Health - Men's Health
This is a well laid out and very comprehensive site
which provides information on a host of illnesses and conditions
ranging from Acne to Hair Loss to Testicular Cancer.
There is also a section designed to help men take care of
their bodies, which covers topics like exercise, skin care,
sleep and sports injuries.
Mayo
Clinic - Men's Health Centre
This site from the renowned Mayo Clinic provides a
comprehensive section dealing with various aspects of men's
health. Some of the issues are prostrate problems, fitness
and weight control, sexual relationships and psychological
health.
Men and
Depression
This resource is found at the U.S. National Institute
for Mental Health site. To try and overcome men's reluctance
to acknowledge or seek treatment for depression, it takes
the approach of featuring stories of real men who have suffered
from and have been treated for the condition.
