Trillium Health Centre recognizes GlaxoSmithKline for its contribution to the health of our communities 

Naming ceremony for the GlaxoSmithKline Chronic Disease Management & Prevention Centre at Trillium-Mississauga features grateful patient

Mississauga-West Toronto (April 8, 2010) - Trillium Health Centre is proud to recognize the contribution that one of Mississauga's leading companies has made to the health of people living with chronic diseases by naming the GlaxoSmithKline Chronic Disease Management & Prevention Centre.

Patients with diabetes, asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), congestive heart failure and hepatitis are benefiting daily from facilities and programs GlaxoSmithKline Inc. (GSK) has supported in recent years. 

One of the patients directly helped as a result of GSK’s support, Mr. Kerry Adams, will share his experiences of COPD at the naming ceremony. .

GlaxoSmithKline donated $1 million to Trillium Health Centre in 2002 towards the development and implementation of asthma education. As the number of people needing help managing asthma and other prevalent, chronic diseases has grown over the years, so has GSK’s commitment to supporting Trillium’s chronic disease management (CDM) patient education projects.

In response to these increasing demands, Trillium Health Centre, a leader in CDM, consolidated its chronic disease outpatient day programs, including Diabetes Management, into the new Clinical and Administrative Building to expand service under one umbrella in this high profile, easy to access location.

To recognize GSK's important contributions, Trillium is naming the new facilities the GlaxoSmithKline Chronic Disease Management & Prevention Centre
Patients coming to Trillium for help managing their chronic diseases will receive the latest in education, prevention and coping skills to improve their quality of life in the Centre’s modern classroom and exercise spaces, fully-equipped demonstration kitchen, and private consultation rooms.
