Trillium Health Centre recognized as a Great Place to Work®

Results of national workplace survey published today

Mississauga/West Toronto –Trillium Health Centre has been recognized as one of this year’s Best Workplaces in Canada. Trillium appears along with other award winners in a special national report in The Globe and Mail today.

Trillium is committed to providing a great place to work for our people. As our most valued and trusted resource in providing quality, patient-centred care, our ability to continue to positively impact the lives of the individuals who seek our care rests in the hands of our employees. We are therefore committed to continuing to provide our employees with a healthy workplace and are delighted that our efforts have been recognized by the Great Place to Work Institute Canada.

“This is a wonderful honour for Trillium. We have made a promise to our people to do our best to provide them with a healthy workplace and we continuously evaluate our programs,” says Janet Davidson, O.C. President and CEO. “This recognition from the Great Place to Work Institute shows we are on the right track. We couldn’t do it without our Outstanding People.”

The list of “Best Workplaces in Canada” is compiled by Great Place to Work® Institute Canada.  The competition process is based on two criteria: two-thirds of the total score comes from a 58-statement survey completed by a random selection of employees, along with their open-ended comments about their organization; the remaining one-third of the score comes from an in-depth review of the organization’s culture, including an evaluation of HR policies and procedures. This offers a rigorous representation of the organization from an employee perspective, and an overall portrait of the workplace culture. Together, they provide crucial data relative to the five trust-building dimensions of a great place to work®: credibility, respect, fairness, pride, and camaraderie.

This year’s list received over 230 nominations and approximately 44,000 employees participated in the 2011 “Best Workplaces in Canada” survey.  Trillium ranked 15th among organizations in the “greater than 1000 employees” category.
“I am so pleased Trillium has been named as one of Canada’s best places to work,” says Morag McLean, Shared Vice President, Trillium Health Centre and Credit Valley Hospital. “What pleases me most is that this recognition has been achieved based on feedback from our employees, which validates Our People Promise and demonstrates the value we place in our employees.”
