Take one of the country’s most advanced cardiac centres, add the heart of one of Canada’s fastest growing communities, a wonderful mayor who just celebrated her 88th birthday, and surround them with a group of motivated students on the search for loose coins…
What do you have? A Heart for Change.
Trillium Health Centre, Mississauga Mayor Hazel McCallion and Peel District School Board will celebrate the launch of Have a Heart for Change coin drive, a branch of Trillium Health Centre Foundation’s “I Heart Hazel” fundraising campaign. The coin drive will be held during Education Week from May 4 to 8, 2009. All proceeds raised will support the new Hazel McCallion Centre for Heart Health.

The first bag of coins will be presented to Mayor McCallion, marking the beginning of the students’ hunt for change. The event will also include a speech on heart health from a seven year-old Mississauga student, as well as interactive heart activities lead by Dr. Anil Gupta, cardiologist at Trillium Health Centre.
Photo and interview opportunities will be available with Mayor McCallion and selected Mineola Public School students.- 30 -
