Trillium raises Matters of the Heart at free February 25 Health Talk

Mississauga-West Toronto –Trillium Health Centre is launching its community Health Talks series on February 25, 2010 with an evening focused on heart health. 

The free educational session, entitled Matters of the Heart, will take place at Trillium's Mississauga location from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. and will feature discussions by cardiac and emergency care experts. 

“It’s Heart Month, so we are inviting members of our community to come out and learn more about heart health,” says Janet Davidson, O.C., president and CEO of Trillium Health Centre. “Trillium is the regional cardiac centre and our team of experts, our partners and our patients will offer tips on how to protect your heart, and how to recognize and act on the symptoms of heart attack.”

Matters of the Heart topics and speakers will include:

  • Taking Care of Your Heart: Tips for A Healthier You - Dr. Anil Gupta, Cardiologist, Trillium Health Centre
     
  • Recognizing Symptoms of a Heart Attack: When to Call 9-1-1 - Greg Sage, Manager, Program Development and Quality Improvement, Halton Region Emergency Medical Services
     
  • Second Chance: A Heart Attack Survivor’s Story
     
  • Saving Your Life: Cardiac Care at Trillium Health Centre - Dr. Randy Watson, Cardiologist, Trillium Health Centre

The seminar will take place in the auditorium of the new inpatient wing at Trillium-Mississauga.  Those interested in the event can register by calling 1-88-Trillium or e-mailing HealthTalks@thc.on.ca with their names and number of guests. 

This is the first of six free bi-monthly Trillium Health Talks to be held this year.  Each event will focus on a specific health issue and feature specialists in the related fields.  The second Health Talks seminar will take place in April with a focus on Diabetes.
