Trillium Health Centre Foundation set to transport over 1,000 guests to India for sold out 10th annual Trillium Diwali

Foundation and Diamond Sponsor Medtronic of Canada to transform the International Centre into magical, mystical India

Trillium Diwali - 10th Anniversary

MISSISSAUGA/WEST TORONTO, ON – Trillium Health Centre Foundation is pleased to announce that Trillium Diwali, the original and largest Diwali celebration of its kind in Canada celebrating the South Asian Festival of Lights, has already sold out for October – an incredible testament to the commitment and support of the communities of Mississauga, southwest Toronto and beyond.

With Medtronic of Canada Limited as the returning Diamond Sponsor, Trillium Diwali is raising funds to support the major revitalization of the Endoscopy Suites at Trillium Health Centre as well as the purchase of life-saving Endoscopy equipment that will positively impact patients, many of them seniors, seeking diagnosis and treatment for diseases like liver and colon cancer and a number of other serious conditions.

Trillium Diwali 2011 will take place on Friday, October 14 at 6:30 p.m. at the International Centre, 6900 Airport Road in Mississauga.  Please mark your calendars.

Guests will feel as though they have been transported to India, reveling in the sights, sounds, tastes and smells of mesmerizing, exotic, mystical India. The event will feature street foods, Indian treats, a replicated Indian bazaar, Mehndi tattoos, exciting entertainment, sumptuous food, a unique silent auction bazaar and dancing to the latest Indian music.

“We’re proud to celebrate Trillium Diwali’s 10th anniversary this year in support of the Endoscopy Suites, and equally proud of our long association with Medtronic,” says Steve Hoscheit, president and CEO of Trillium Health Centre Foundation.  “Medtronic has been a sponsor of Trillium Diwali since 2006 and has a long history of generous support. This kind of corporate partnership makes a vital difference to the health care of our community and the state-of-the-art care and facilities Trillium is able to provide.”

"Medtronic is delighted to continue its support of Trillium Diwali. We strongly believe in supporting the hospital, which serves a large number of our employees. This event has also become a key cultural event in our community and an evening not to be missed in our community calendar," says Neil Fraser, president, Medtronic of Canada Limited.

Although tickets for the event are sold out, the need to revitalize the health centre’s Endoscopy Suites remains more important than ever. The goal for Trillium Diwali is to reach the $2 million needed for this revitalization. We are almost halfway there, so further community support, in the form of gifts-in-kind items or services, or items for our silent auction, will help the Foundation get even closer to its goal.
