Tour de Bleu, sponsored by Mattamy Homes, supports Trillium Health Centre’s redevelopment of Intensive Care Nursery

Mississauga/West Toronto - All are welcome to join us as we celebrate the arrival of over 30 cyclists completing the Tour de Bleu, a 200 mile charity ride journey from Port Carling, Muskoka to Trillium Health Centre - Mississauga on Sunday, July 26 at 4:00 p.m.  All proceeds raised by Tour de Bleu, Mattamy Homes’ annual cycling fundraiser - estimated at $250,000 - will benefit the redevelopment of Trillium’s Intensive Care Nursery, allowing staff to care for their most vulnerable patients - premature babies - in an environment designed for their special needs.

Since 2005, Mattamy Homes’ Tour de Bleu has been an ongoing success story matching avid cyclists who believe in supporting children in need. Peter Gilgan, CEO of Mattamy Homes, envisioned a 200 mile charity cycling event and - with the support of his company, cyclists, and corporate partners - created an extremely successful fundraiser supporting children’s charities.

Trillium Health Centre is one of Canada’s busiest birthing centres with over 4,400 births each year. The Intensive Care Nursery (ICN) cares for babies born up to eight weeks prematurely and requiring 24-hour observation and highly-specialized care.

Over the years, demand for ICN services has grown and the unit needs to be expanded and its equipment updated. With the support of the generous donations raised by the Tour de Bleu, Trillium’s ICN will be expanded to accommodate more bedside spaces and comfortable surroundings for parents to sleep, meet with the health care professionals, and interact with their precious newborns.
