A look at our future together: Addressing the mental health needs of our community
Dr. Rose Geist, Chief of the Mental Health System, outlines the future of mental health care at Trillium Health Centre's Annual General Meeting
MISSISSAUGA/WEST TORONTO, ON – Trillium Health Centre will hold its Annual General Meeting on June 9 at 5 p.m.
Guest speaker Dr. Rose Geist will discuss some exciting new programs to address mental health care needs at Trillium. She will also highlight Trillium’s extensive work with external partners from across the province with a focus on the importance of interprofessional approaches to mental health.

Dr. Rose Geist is the Chief and Physician Director, Mental Health System, and Chair, Research Ethics Board, at Trillium Health Centre and Associate Professor of Psychiatry and Pediatrics at University of Toronto.
Within Trillium, Dr. Geist has overseen the creation of an interprofessional Mental Health Urgent Response Service (MHURS) to manage emergency department patients in crisis who can be discharged from the ED and treated within a few days, and the development of a new Mental Health Intensive Care Unit.
Trillium’s mental health team reaches out into the community in a several ways, including planning a new integrated service for youth with eating disorders across the Mississauga-Halton LHIN, a telepsychiatry program in which psychiatrists from Trillium consult to Orillia Soldiers Memorial Hospital Family Practice remotely, and other projects involving the Mississauga Academy of Medicine, the Summerville Family Health Team and. St. Joseph’s Hospital.
