Celebrating Canadian Multiculturalism Day at Trillium Health Centre on Friday
Mississauga/West Toronto - Trillium Health Centre’s Diversity Services and Health Information and Wellness Centre are promoting awareness of health information and other community-based services available to enhance the health care experience of our diverse patient population.
Please join us at Multiculturalism Day on Friday, June 27 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Several community partners will be on hand to offer information to Trillium staff and patients about diversity issues and community services that could help Trillium patients.
As part of the festivities, we will have a sampling of ethnocultural food and Trillium’s cafeteria will have a special multicultural menu. Health centre staff are being encouraged to wear traditional garments to work to celebrate diversity.

Multiculturalism Initiatives at Trillium - new Halal Diet Option
Trillium’s Diversity Services, which produces an extensive Diversity Tool Kit to help staff understand their patients’ cultural norms and values, worked in consultation with external partners and Trillium’s Nutrition and Food Services to respond to the dietary needs of Muslim inpatients by introducing a new Halal Diet Option.
Trillium offers Muslim patients halal entrées from a provider who uses meat suppliers certified by the Islamic Society of North America.
Trillium’s Courtyard Cafeteria also offers Halal entrée options daily for staff and visitors - in addition to special daily Multiculturalism Week menus all this week. For more information, visit: www.trilliumhealthcentre.org/about/accessibility.html.
Health Information in Chinese and South Asian Languages
Trillium has enhanced its diversity services by launching free Multilanguage Health Information Helplines for clients who speak Mandarin and Cantonese (905-848-7398) or Hindi, Punjabi and Urdu (905-848-7377).
