Trillium Health Centre CEO Gives International Community Insight into Public Private Partnerships in Canadian Health Care

Janet Davidson addresses the audience at the 5th Annual World Health Care Congress in Brussels

To help provide insight into public-private partnerships (PPPs) in Canada and how our experiences can be used to benefit the health care industry across the world, Janet Davidson, O.C., President and CEO of Trillium Health Centre participated in a panel presentation to a group of international health care leaders at the 5th Annual Health Care Congress in Brussels, Belgium.

“Public-private partnerships have proven beneficial in Canada in a number of ways. Through this presentation, I shared some of our experiences with the rest of the world, to give them some insight into what we’ve learned so far,” said Trillium Health Centre President and CEO Janet Davidson. “There are many lessons we can share for those considering public-private partnerships to help ensure sustainability, foster innovation and develop strategy.”

The 5th Annual World Health Care Congress – Europe gathers over 600 international health leaders and government officials to share business cases, best practices and successful initiatives to address current challenges facing Europe. The 2009 Congress will highlight leading global strategies for performance management, innovations in health care technology, chronic disease management and health care financing.

Janet Davidson has over 25 years health care management experience in the voluntary, hospital and government sectors across Canada. She has led Trillium Health Centre since March 2007.

Her presentation at the World Health Care Congress illustrated, through examples from the Canadian experience, the ways in which our public and private sectors have worked together to develop productive partnerships for technological innovation, service provision and system development.  She cited, as an example, the strategic development work being carried out by the Canadian College of Health Service Executives (CCHSE) through its Health Professionals’ Roundtable for Strategy, corporate sponsored awards and international study tours.

Other speakers at the Congress include academics, patient group leaders, policy executives and health ministers from across the world.  To learn more about the World Healthcare Congress Europe 2009 please visit: www.worldcongress.com/europe.
