Learn about the Obesity Epidemic: Mini-Med School at the University of Toronto Mississauga begins May 27
Mississauga (May 27, 2010) – We’ve all heard the statistics. The rate of obesity is rising and resulting in conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, cholesterol, sleep apnea, arthritis and even death. The popularity of such reality programs like The Biggest Loser show that people are grappling with obesity, but what’s causing it and, more importantly, what can you do about it?
Join us on May 27, 2010 at the University of Toronto Mississauga’s Mini-Med School where Dr. Chris Cobourn, general and bariatric surgeon at Trillium Health Centre, will address the causes, effects and treatment of obesity in his lecture, The Epidemic of Obesity: Diagnosis and Treatment Options. Bariatrics is the field of medicine that deals with the causes, prevention, and treatment of obesity.
Dr. Cobourn’s presentation is the first in a five-lecture evening series where you can learn about current health issues.
This partnership between the University of Toronto Mississauga and Trillium Health Centre features five dynamic speakers and is designed to help attendees be more informed patients, better caregivers, more aware of important resources and more skilled at critically appraising media headlines.
