Latest advances in cervical spine care at Trillium Health Centre Spine Institute’s 4th Annual Symposium of Spine Care tomorrow

Orthopaedic surgeons, neurosurgeons, family practitioners, surgical spine nurses and allied health professionals working with spines will learn about the latest advances in cervical spine care and much more, at Trillium Health Centre Spine Institute’s 4th Annual Symposium of Spine Care tomorrow at the Waterside Inn in Mississauga. 

This year’s theme is A Pain in the Neck, and includes a keynote address entitled ‘Clinical Applications of Modest Hypothermia After Acute Spinal Cord Injury’ by Chief of Surgery at the University of Miami Hospital, Dr. Alan Levi.

Keynote Address - 8:15 a.m. -9 a.m: Clinical Applications of Modest Hypothermia after Acute Spinal Cord Injury

Learning objectives for spine care professionals attending the Symposium include:

  • applying recent best practice advances in the management of cervical spine surgical patients
  • consolidating the latest evidence on minimally invasive surgery
  • understanding the use of Electrodiagnosis to promote a more focused assessment of cervical spine patients
  • updating knowledge in surgical spine surveillance of infections
  • reviewing recent findings on management of whiplash disorders and cervical spine manipulation
  • increasing knowledge on the benefits of hypothermia in the treatment of acute spinal cord injury
  • developing the ability to recognize, investigate and treat myelomalacia of the cervical spinal cord
  • updating knowledge of current research in spinal cord regeneration
