Trillium’s Janet Davidson recognized as one of Canada’s Most Powerful Women for 2010

Top 100™ Awards Recognize Top Female Achievers From Across Canada

Mississauga/West Toronto –Trillium Health Centre congratulates Janet Davidson for being chosen for the prestigious 2010 Canada's Most Powerful Women: Top 100™ Awards, in the Public Sector Leaders category for the second consecutive year by the Women’s Executive Network Advisory Board.

“I want to congratulate Janet on receiving this well-deserved recognition for the second time.  Her work here at Trillium Health Centre has been truly remarkable,” said Anne Sado, chair of Trillium Health Centre’s Board of Directors.

“Janet has made – and continues to make – a significant impact on the Canadian health care system,” said Sado.  “We are pleased and privileged to have Janet leading Trillium. She has a compelling vision of how our health centre can continue to be a leader within it.”

The Canada's Most Powerful Women: Top 100 Awards is Canada’s most recognized award for the country's highest achieving female leaders in the private, public and not-for-profit sectors. Janet Davidson joins a community of 522 women across Canada who has received this recognition.  The complete list of 2010 winners can be found at www.top100women.ca.

"It is very gratifying to receive this honour for a second time, but also truly humbling,” said Davidson.  “I have been very fortunate, both in my career and in my volunteer work, to have worked with and learned from so many outstanding people. I’d like to thank them for their support, mentorship and encouragement.”

”I also want to thank the members of the Women’s Executive Network for this recognition and for the wonderful work they do, helping women develop professionally." Davidson said.

Trillium Health Centre’s Board of Directors is also well represented in this year’s Top 100 Awards. Board Chair Anne Sado, president of George Brown College, was recognized as one of the Most Powerful Woman for the first time. Janice Baker, Board Treasurer and City Manager/CAO with the City of Mississauga was inducted into the WXN Top 100 Hall of Fame for Canada’s Most Powerful Women following her fourth nomination for the list.

About Janet Davidson
Janet M. Davidson, O.C., BScN, MHSA, LLD (Hon), joined Trillium Health Centre as President and CEO in March 2007.  She has more than 30 years experience in health care management in the hospital, government and voluntary sectors in Ontario, B.C. and Alberta.

Janet is an expert on the regionalization of health systems, improving access to quality care and being responsive to local needs. She has made a substantial contribution to debates on issues as wide-ranging as quality health care, patient safety, strategic planning, leadership, change management, program evaluation, evidence-based medicine and health care technology.

From her more than 20 years of service as a Canadian Red Cross volunteer and Board member, and the 10 years she served in a senior governance capacity within the International Red Cross / Red Crescent Movement in Geneva, Janet is a renowned leader on the subjects of international aid and cooperation, and emergency response.

In 2006, Davidson was named an Officer of the Order of Canada for her work with the Red Cross. In June 2009, Janet received an Honorary Doctor of Laws degree from the University of Windsor.
