Trillium’s Janet Davidson named one of Canada’s Top 100 Most Powerful Women

Trillium Health Centre President and CEO recognized by Women’s Executive Network™

MISSISSAUGA / WEST TORONTO, ON – The Women’s Executive Network™ (WXN) announced today that Janet Davidson, O.C., president and CEO, Trillium Health Centre, is one of Canada's Top 100 Most Powerful Women.

“I want to congratulate Janet on this well-deserved honour. She is an inspirational leader and an influential thinker whose strength derives from her intelligence, integrity, commitment and passion,” says Anne Sado, chair of Trillium Health Centre’s Board of Directors.

"Janet has a significant impact on public health care in our community and the entire country thanks to her expertise in regional integration, strategic partnerships and fiscal sustainability. We are proud to have her as Trillium's president and CEO.”

Janet Davidson was nominated and chosen for inclusion in the Top 100 by the WXN Advisory Board.

“I am very grateful, and humbled, by this honour,” she says. “I'd like to thank the many outstanding people with whom I work and from whom I learn so much. I have benefited throughout my life from the encouragement and support of exceptional people – many of whom are women – with whom I share a common goal: building a safe, high quality health care system in all our communities.

“I also want to thank the Women’s Executive Network for this recognition and for the excellent work it does, helping women develop professionally as managers and executives through mentoring and networking opportunities.”

"I am proud that there is no glass ceiling in the health care sector, as evidenced by the many hospital CEOs, including myself, who started as nurses providing care to patients and now bring that clinical experience to the executive suite. I wish the WXN much success in its work supporting women in all sectors and industries in realizing their potential for career advancement."

Mississauga South MPP Charles Sousa says, “I have witnessed first hand Janet’s commitment and dedication to Trillium Health Centre and to the well being of our community. I have always been impressed by her ability to motivate and inspire others. 2 Janet is a champion in the public health sector and most worthy of being named one of Canada's Most Powerful Women."

Mississauga Mayor Hazel McCallion, a strong supporter of Trillium with whom Janet has worked closely since taking the reins at Trillium, summed up Janet's contribution. "Janet's commitment to innovation in the field of health care and her genuine concern for the well-being of the community is most inspiring. The City of Mississauga depends greatly on the efforts of individuals like Janet Davidson whose many contributions have helped improve the quality of life for many in Mississauga and beyond."

Janet graduated as a nurse from the Toronto East General Hospital, earned a BScN from the University of Windsor and has an MHSA from the University of Alberta.
