Nurses at Work photography exhibition features nurses from Trillium Health Centre in action

Official reception for Mississauga Camera Club show at Living Arts Centre Gallery takes place tomorrow

Mississauga/West Toronto - Nurses at Work, a photography exhibition featuring nurses and patients from Trillium Health Centre, officially opens tomorrow at the second floor art gallery at the Living Arts Centre in Mississauga.

Nurses at Work is an exhibition of photographs by fourteen members of the Mississauga Camera Club, a local camera club.  Among the fourteen photographers who participated in this project were three members of the Trillium family: Suzanne Williams, a nineteen-year volunteer, and two surgeons, Dr. Karen Black (Simmonds) and Dr. David Simmonds.

Under the supervision of Trillium staff, each artist was granted special access to Trillium to document the day-to-day lives of the nurses employed here. The images capture the joy, dedication, confidence, and humility exhibited by the nurses while they interact with patients and colleagues.

The images in the Nurses at Work exhibition were captured in Trillium’s oncology, orthopaedics, complex continuing care, intensive care, and cardiac surgery units and operating rooms in April 2009. 

The Nurses at WorkGallery Exhibition runs September 7 – November 7 at the Living Arts Centre, 2nd Floor Art Gallery. Gallery hours are Tuesday to Saturday from 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. and Sunday from 1 - 4 p.m. Admission is free, all are welcome.
