Pro-Am Golf Tournament supports specialty program at Trillium Health Centre’s Hazel McCallion Centre for Heart Health

Trillium Foundation Pro AM 2009

Mississauga/West Toronto – On Monday, September 14, twenty-two teams, each joined by a professional golfer, will tee off in support of a unique, life-saving program offered at Trillium Health Centre’s Hazel McCallion Centre for Heart Health.

With the support of lead sponsor, Scotiabank Group, golfers are playing to raise $200,000 toward Trillium’s Electrophysiology program. Funds will provide equipment used to treat ‘arrhythmias’ or abnormal heart beats, which affect thousands of Ontarians and are a common cause of death and disability.

Other sponsors are Willson International Inc., Investors Group, Hicks Partnership Inc., Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment Ltd., and Central Reproductions Limited. For the $1,250 fee, players are wined, dined and feted in fabulous, first class style.

The Hazel McCallion Centre for Heart Health is one of only a few cardiac centres in Ontario where specialists study the heart’s electrical system to treat arrhythmia. Participation or donations to Pro-Am will enable the purchase of Internal Cardioverter Defibrillators, implanted in the chest to restore healthy heart rhythm.

Since its inception in 1993, Pro-Am has raised over $2 million for advanced cardiac care at Trillium. Scotiabank sponsors for the 13th consecutive year, led by Chair Barbara Foster.
