Doing the “Walk of Life” for Trillium Cardiac Rehabilitation

Mississauga/West Toronto - Current patients and graduates of Trillium Health Centre’s four-month Cardiac Rehabilitation Program will be doing the “Walk of Life” with their families and friends to raise money to support the cardiac rehab program.

The 6th Annual Walk-a-Thon, which takes place tomorrow at Centennial Park, is part of the Canadian Cardiac Rehabilitation Foundation’s national “Walk of Life” campaign and is sponsored locally by the Great-West Life Assurance Company.

Trillium’s Cardiac Wellness and Rehabilitation Centre (CWRC) has been helping patients recover from heart attacks, angioplasty and bypass surgery since 2001. CWRC provides assessment, education, support and personalized exercise plans for recovering cardiac patients and cares for those recently diagnosed with heart disease.

The goal of CWRC’s program is to reduce the incidence of repeat cardiac problems and to improve patients' quality of life by providing education on heart health, smoking cessation, stress management, nutrition, managing medications, diabetes and vocational counselling. An exercise routine is also developed for each patient keeping their personal health needs in mind.
