Trillium Health Centre announces ‘OM Fracture Clinic’

Naming opportunity honours community support of Trillium’s successful Diwali Fundraiser

Mississauga/West Toronto – Trillium Health Centre is celebrating the support of the South Asian community and the success of its annual Diwali fundraiser by naming its new fracture clinic the “OM Fracture Clinic.”

“Trillium Health Centre is honoured to have found such a fitting way to recognize the outstanding contribution that the South Asian community has made to our organization through the Diwali Fundraiser," said Scott Campbell, chair of Trillium Health Centre Board of Directors.

“OM Fracture Clinic is an inspired choice for the name of the clinic. ‘OM’ means peace and serenity. This recognition celebrates the spirit of community and generosity demonstrated by the many supporters of our Diwali event,” added Campbell.

Diwali is the South Asian ‘Festival of Lights’ and for the past six years the Foundation has hosted a Diwali fundraising event. In those six years, the fundraiser has raised over $1.4 million toward its $2 million goal.

Trillium’s Diwali Fundraiser was founded by Dr. Vir Sennik in partnership with Trillium Health Centre Foundation. Dr. Sennik, an orthopaedic surgeon at the OM Fracture Clinic, was recently appointed Chief and Physician Director of the Neurosciences and Musculoskeletal Health System.

“The incredible community support for the Diwali fundraiser has created a unified sense of purpose and generosity that we are extremely proud to celebrate today,” said Dr. Sennik. “OM Fracture Clinic embodies the spirit of diversity at Trillium and recognizes the extraordinary contribution of our South Asian community. The new clinic allows us to offer people from all across the GTA compassionate, leading-edge health care in a state-of-the-art facility.”

“The Diwali committee members are physicians, business leaders and volunteers from the South Asian community who donate their time to put on one of the region’s most highly anticipated and successful fundraising events,” said Steve Hoscheit, president and CEO of the Trillium Health Centre Foundation. “The tremendous enthusiasm and determination of the Diwali committee in pursuing their $2 million fundraising pledge has invigorated our entire organization and challenged everyone to do more to raise money in support of world-class health care.”
