Diabetes Information Sessions for the Chinese Community
Trillium Health Centre’s Diabetes Management Centre, Yee Hong Centre for Geriatric Care and St. Elizabeth Outreach Center host diabetes information sessions for the Chinese community.
Mississauga/West Toronto (September 29, 2011) - Trillium Health Centre’s Diabetes Management Centre is holding diabetes information sessions for the Chinese community. These two-day sessions are available in Cantonese and Mandarin.
The sessions are for people with Type 2 Diabetes and are being held in conjunction with Yee Hong Centre for Geriatric Care at St. Elizabeth Outreach Center.
The sessions will be conducted in Chinese with by a registered dietitian and kinesiologist. The topics covered will be healthy eating, self-monitoring of blood glucose, management of high and low blood sugar, diabetes medications, and diabetes related complications. The session takes into account cultural influences such as food patterns, food choices and exercise.

Members of the media are welcome to attend this Friday, September 30, 2011.
The sessions are open to the public who register, and are intended for residents of west GTA, Mississauga, Brampton and Oakville. There is a $20 registration fee. Free parking is available at St. Elizabeth Outreach Centre, which is located on bus route #34.
A full class schedule is listed below. Those interested in attending can call Yee Hong at 905-568-0333, ext 4610. No doctor's referral needed for this education session.
