About Kingsway Financial Spine Centre

• Trillium’s Kingsway Financial Spine Centre, Canada’s first one-stop facility of its kind, is a primary destination for patients in Ontario suffering from acute disorders related to the spine.
• It is part of Trillium Health Centre’s Neurosciences / Musculoskeletal Health System, which provides specialized care for back injuries, fractured limbs and conditions due to disease such as arthritis.
• The Centre is expected to significantly reduce wait times, improve accessibility, and provide better patient outcomes.
• The 9,000 square foot, open access ambulatory facility offers a comprehensive approach to spine care where individuals can access state-of-the-art diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation, or surgery services provided by a specialized interdisciplinary team.
• Its focus is health promotion and prevention of acute and sub-acute spine and back disorders.
• Modeled on an interdisciplinary approach to care, Trillium’s Kingsway Financial Spine Centre creates customized plans of care based on early diagnosis, timely access to specialized tests, and to appropriate health care professionals.
• Both surgical and non-surgical options are available to clients depending on their specific needs.
• In many cases, it can take up to nine months to be referred to a spine specialist. All individuals who present at the Kingsway Financial Spine Centre will receive an appointment with a triage coordinator within 24 hours and an appointment with a specialist within two weeks. Serious cases will be seen immediately.
• The consultation will provide patients with a plan of care that may include rehabilitation, alternative treatments or referral to surgery.
• This includes faster throughput due to new and improved MRI and dedicated MRI time for spine patients that reduce current waiting lists ranging from six to nine months to within one week.
• Trillium’s Kingsway Spine Centre also features an area dedicated to back care education and wellness for clients and their families.
• The ability to self-refer for patients without family physicians, and having all services and expert human resources are also available in one location.
