Trillium Board Chair Receives Queen’s Golden Jubilee
Medal
ETOBICOKE, ONTARIO, February 20, 2003: The Board
Chair of one of Canada’s largest community hospitals
received recognition today for his significant contribution
to health care governance leading to benefits for residents
of both Mississauga and Etobicoke.
Donald Stewart, a Trillium Health Centre Board Member for
the past five years, and Chair for the past two, was presented
with the Queen’s Golden Jubilee Medal by Rob Sampson,
MPP, Mississauga Centre.
“During Don’s tenure on Trillium Health Centre’s
Board, he has been one of the major contributors to the hospital’s
proactive approach to delivering innovative health care,” says
Sampson, noting the hospital’s smooth transition during
the initial merger between the Mississauga Hospital and Queensway
General Hospital, and Trillium’s continued growth including
expansion of its Emergency and Critical Care areas, and the
evolution of its Queensway Site into a model ambulatory care
facility. “Trillium continues to demonstrate leadership
as a health care provider with its local, regional and provincial
programs, and it’s clear that Don has played a key
role in the hospital’s ongoing development.”
A chartered accountant and investment advisor with RBC Dominion
Securities, Stewart is a familiar face at Trillium, lending
his support to major hospital initiatives. Stewart is also
a member of the Mississauga Board of Trade’s high profile
Health Issues Committee, a group dedicated to addressing
health care concerns that impact the Mississauga community.
“
We’re delighted that Don has been recognized in this
way,” notes Ken White, President and CEO, Trillium
Health Centre. “His passion for health care and serving
his community is evident in his tireless efforts at the Board
level to enhance the experience for the patients we serve.”
The Queen’s Golden Jubilee Medal was created to mark
the 50th anniversary of the accession of Her Majesty to the
Throne on February 6, 1952. It is awarded to those persons
who have made a significant contribution to Canada, to their
community or to their fellow Canadians.
