Trillium Health Centre wins international award for driving
hospital with a Dashboard
Mississauga, Ontario, June 17, 2002 – Trillium
Health Centre has won the International Education Exchange
Award for a strategic and innovative technological project
called the Dashboard. Trillium received the award by the Medical
Users Software Exchange (MUSE), an international organization
that supports health care organizations.
Trillium Health Centre is the first Ontario hospital to receive
the award in the history of MUSE awards, beating 40 other
hospitals from around the world.
The Dashboard is an electronic display that provides users
key information at their fingertips, allowing them to make
effective health care decisions quickly and effectively. Doctors
and administrative staff use the Dashboard to monitor such
things as wait times, average length of stays and patient
satisfaction results.
"It is a great honour for Trillium to be selected by
an international panel of judges and peers for this award,"says
Ken White, President & CEO. "The Dashboard is an
innovative project that is aiding our staff in making more
effective health care decisions. This initiative is another
example of world-class leadership in health care."
Trillium Health Centre, Canada's largest community hospital,
serves a population of one million residents in the communities
of Mississauga and Etobicoke across two sites. In addition
to providing a comprehensive range of primary and secondary
level acute care services, selected tertiary level services
are provided on a regional and provincial basis. These services
include a regional neurosurgery program, cardiac services
and complex musculoskeletal services.
