Free Education Event will help you
"GET STROKE SMART™"
MISSISSAUGA, JUNE 18, 2002: Would you recognize the
warning signs of stroke? Would you know what to do if you
or someone you know experiences stroke symptoms? Do you know
how to reduce your risk of stroke? Would you like to know
more about the impact of stroke, stroke recovery and advances
in stroke research?
In recognition of Stroke Month (June), the West GTA Stroke
Network announces an important public education event that
will answer these questions and more.
Guest speaker, Dr. Andre Douen, MD, PhD, FRCPC, is a Neurologist
with the West GTA Stroke Network's, Regional Stroke
Centre (based at Trillium Health Centre). The event will take
place Tuesday, June 25th, 10:30 – Noon, at Misssissauga's
Living Arts Centre, 4141 Living Arts Drive (adjacent to Square
One Shopping Centre). Admission is free, but space is limited.

Stroke is a devastating disease affecting approximately 20
million people globally each year. Of these, an estimated
five million die in the ensuing twelve months. Sixty percent
of stroke survivors are left with a disability that impacts
their quality of life.
