Free Education Event will help you
"GET STROKE SMART™"

MISSISSAUGA, JUNE 18, 2002: Would you recognize the warning signs of stroke? Would you know what to do if you or someone you know experiences stroke symptoms? Do you know how to reduce your risk of stroke? Would you like to know more about the impact of stroke, stroke recovery and advances in stroke research?

In recognition of Stroke Month (June), the West GTA Stroke Network announces an important public education event that will answer these questions and more.
Guest speaker, Dr. Andre Douen, MD, PhD, FRCPC, is a Neurologist with the West GTA Stroke Network's, Regional Stroke Centre (based at Trillium Health Centre). The event will take place Tuesday, June 25th, 10:30 – Noon, at Misssissauga's Living Arts Centre, 4141 Living Arts Drive (adjacent to Square One Shopping Centre). Admission is free, but space is limited. To ensure a seat, please register with the West GTA Stroke Network at (416) 259-7580, ext 5475.

Stroke is a devastating disease affecting approximately 20 million people globally each year. Of these, an estimated five million die in the ensuing twelve months. Sixty percent of stroke survivors are left with a disability that impacts their quality of life.
