Trillium Health Centre President and CEO Janet Davidson receives Honorary Doctorate from University of Windsor
8th annual gala raises over $530,000 for Trillium Health Centre
MISSISSAUGA / WEST TORONTO, ON –Janet Davidson, O.C., president and CEO, Trillium Health Centre received an Honorary Doctor of Laws degree today during Spring Convocation at the University of Windsor. Davidson is an alumna who graduated in 1971 with a Bachelor of Science (BScN) in Nursing.
“I am both thrilled and humbled to be recognized by the University of Windsor with an honorary doctorate,” said Davidson. “I have been fortunate to have worked with and been mentored by so many wonderful, talented people in my volunteer work and my professional health care career, both of which are grounded in my experiences at the University’s Faculty of Nursing.”
The University of Windsor confers honorary degrees on individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the advancement of literature, journalism, business, social justice and law.
Davidson has more than 30 years experience in health care management – including a time as Assistant Deputy Minister of Health for Alberta – and is currently president and CEO of Trillium Health Centre in Mississauga. She has more than 20 years experience as a Red Cross volunteer and Board member, including four years as vice-chair of the Standing Commission of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, its highest deliberative body.
Among other honours, Davidson was appointed an Officer of the Order of Canada; an Officer of the Order of the Red Cross; received the YMCA Woman of the Year Award in Business and Management, the 125th Anniversary and Queen’s Jubilee Medals; and was named to Chatelaine’s Who’s Who of Canadian Women.
Davidson recently endowed a scholarship in the University of Windsor’s Faculty of Nursing and has been a generous supporter of the University’s Annual Giving Program. In addition to her nursing degree at University of Windsor, Davidson earned a Master of Health Services Administration (MHSA) degree from the University of Alberta.
