Trillium Health Centre Heads 'Back to School'
Tuesday, September 17, 2002 – With paper and
pencil in hand, Trillium Health Centre employees, physicians
and volunteers are heading 'back to school' at
the Health Centre's 2nd annual Back to School Conference.
Taking place at the Mississauga Convention Centre on September
18th and 19th, the two-day affair will inform, educate, and
inspire staff to push beyond the status quo, challenge accepted
norms, and change the face of health care.
An exceptional line-up of speakers from across North America
will motivate attendees with their wisdom and learning. Session
topics include inspirational leadership, the current and future
health care environment, and motivating and creating teams
that get the job done. Clinical speakers will present on robotic
surgery and the use of technology in health.
Luncheon Speaker Barb Underhill, Canadian Olympian and World
Champion Pairs Figure Skater, will share her personal story
of incredible triumphs and devastating losses, and how she
succeeded despite life's difficulties.
Trillium President and CEO Ken White will make a special
presentation on Values-Based Leadership. This conference brings
to life Mr. White's vision of creating a truly 'learning'
organization. "We have to see beyond the structure and
the management expertise and look into the hearts and minds
of the people who serve here so that we can help release the
leadership capacity that I believe dwells in each person,"
says Mr. White.
The free community event on Wednesday night with Daniele
Sauvageau and Cassie Campbell, Coach and Captain (respectively)
of Canada's Olympic Gold Hockey Team promises to be
an exciting night as the athletic twosome draw on their incredible
Salt Lake City experience to show others how they, too, can
achieve performance excellence.
Trillium's vision 'Together... Leaders in
Health Innovation' is supported by the Health Centre's
core values of Excellence, Teamwork, Balance, Service, Integrity,
and of course Learning. The Back to School Conference supports
Trillium's Learning value by encouraging and supporting
personal and professional development and growth.
Trillium Health Centre, Canada's largest community
hospital, serves a population of over one million residents
in the communities of Mississauga and Etobicoke across two
sites. In addition to providing a comprehensive range of primary
and secondary level acute care services, selected tertiary
level services are provided on a regional and provincial basis.
These services include a regional neurosurgery program, cardiac
services and complex musculoskeletal services.
