Trillium lauded for service
Trillium Health Centre (THC) has been recognized with a
national award for it’s ambulatory care centre.
THC took home the Canadian College of Health Service Executive
and 3M Health Care Quality Team Award for it’s “innovative” and “highly
successful” centre at its Queensway site in Etobicoke.
The submission focused on the medical and surgical facilities
within the centre. This innovative centre is evidence of
remarkable quality improvement in ambulatory care involving
and exceptional …team dedicated to superlative patient
care,” said Wendy Nelson, vice-president of patient
services at THC.
The award criteria demanded results-oriented projects that
demonstrate improved programs or services for the community,
among other measures.
“What I saw was a very strategic initiative with excellent
information analysis and evidence of really good outcomes
from both the financial and patient satisfaction perspective,” said
award adjudicator Larry McBride, also manager of 3M Health
Care Services.
The judges were impressed with a lot from the THC including:
- More
than 9,000 patients being served annually at the ambulatory
centre
- Outpatient surgical volumes being doubled in the past three
years.
- Annual savings of $2.56 million from transferring patients
needing day surgery from THC’s Mississauga site to
Etobicoke site.
