Hospital calendars will help patients
Dec 26, 2001
Patients will be the beneficiaries of a new fundraising
calendar produced by the Trillium Health Centre and The Mississauga
News.
Proceeds from the sale of the glossy 2002 calendars
-- which feature colour photographs of Trillium Health
Centre's Mississauga
and Etobicoke sites and of surgeons and nurses performing
their duties -- will go directly to improving the comfort
of patients, hospital officials say.
"Everything from comfortable
bedside chairs to cheerful art work in patients' rooms," said
Susanna Smith, Trillium Health Centre's director of public
relations. "Those
are things that don't always get priority, but that make
a huge difference."
The Mississauga News produced 3,500
of the calendars, which are now on sale for $5 apiece inside
the hospital gift shops
at Trillium Health Centre's two locations.
Smith said the partnership between the health centre and
The News is a worthwhile one.
"It's a wonderful community-spirited
collaboration that really works well," she said. "It's
a great cause and the calendars would make great gifts."
Smith
added the photographs inside the calendars, provided by Trillium
Health Centre, "give people a sense of what
goes on at the hospitals."
The News also sold a series
of business card-sized advertisements, which appear throughout
the calendar.
The News' Classified
Sales Manager Teresa Deluca said any initiative that supports
hospitals is a positive for the
community.
Deluca said The News plans to partner with Trillium
Health Centre again next year to produce similar calendars
for 2003.
