For Our Patients

Accommodation

As an insured resident of Ontario, you will have the option of three types of accommodation: Standard, Semi-Private, and Private. A Standard room has four or more beds and the cost is completely covered by OHIP. A Semi-Private, two-bed room may or may not be fully covered by extended health insurance (please check your coverage). A limited number of Private rooms are also available if you have private coverage or are willing to pay extra.

Your Health Care... Be Involved

Trillium Health Centre has re-launched the Ontario Hospital Association's patient safety tips campaign called “Your Health Care - Be Involved”. This campaign involves communicating openly with patients, families and caregivers about the important role patients play in their own health care.

To support patients in this role, the following five“common sense” tips have been developed to engage patients to take a more active role in their health care:

Be involved in your health care. Speak up if you have questions or concerns about your care.

Tell a member of your health care team about your past illnesses and your current health condition.

Bring all of your medicines with you when you go to the hospital or to a medical appointment.

Tell a member of your health care team if you have ever had an allergic or bad reaction to any medicine or food.

Make sure you know what to do when you go home from the hospital or from your medical appointment.

The ‘Your Health Care – Be Involved' initiative has a number of different components including posters, pamphlets and “take-one” pads. Please contact Karyn Agtarap-Rose, Consultant, Patient Safety and Risk Management, at 905-848-7580 ext. 2754 if you have any questions.
