Planning Your Stay

We want you to focus on your health and safety. This checklist will help you prepare for your stay with us, whether you are staying overnight or are scheduled for day surgery.

What to bring for your overnight stay

  • Your Ontario health card
  • Health insurance information
  • A list of all medications you are taking right now, including over-the-counter medicines, herbal remedies, vitamins, and diet pills. Please bring in your labeled pill bottles so we can double-check them with your list. If you have an aerochamber or CPAP, please bring it with you.
  • Pajamas and other comfortable clothes
  • Diapers for children and babies
  • Favourite toys and blankets for children
  • Shoes that fit well or non-skid slippers
  • Underwear
  • Toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, shampoo, razor, comb and hair brush, hand lotion and other personal care items
  • Eyeglass, contact lens, hearing aids and the case for them
  • Denture cups and supplies
  • Walker or cane – if you need and use one
  • $10 or less for snacks

What to bring for your day surgery

  • Your Ontario health card
  • Health insurance information
  • A list of all medications you are taking right now, including over-the-counter medicines, herbal remedies, vitamins, and diet pills. Please bring in your labeled pill bottles so we can double-check them with your list. If you have an aerochamber or CPAP, please bring it with you
  • Favourite toys and blankets for children
  • Shoes that fit well or non-skid slippers
  • Eyeglasses, contacts, hearing aids and the case for them
  • Denture cups and supplies
  • Walker, crutches, braces if you need and use one; if you are provided with a fitting and device prior to surgery, please bring it to Trillium when you arrive for surgery

What not to bring for any stay at Trillium

  • Please do not bring an electric razor or hair dryer.
  • Please leave all valuables, including jewelry, bank cards and large sums of cash, at home for safe keeping.  If you have valuables with you, send them home with a loved one. If no one is available to take them home, have your nurse ask for Security Services to pick them up. Security will store your valuables in a sealed bag and place the bag in a safe for you.

Please note: Trillium is not responsible for loss or theft of money, valuables or other personal property kept in your room, including dentures and eyeglasses.

If you are scheduled for treatment at our Mississauga location, please ask for directions from our welcoming staff or volunteers, located in the main entrance.

If you are scheduled for treatment at our West Toronto location, please go to the registration desk, located inside the south entrance. For your convenience, volunteers are available to help you find your way.

Room numbers at Mississauga location

We are a large health centre, with two locations to serve you. To help you find your way, a letter is assigned to each wing or unit. The wing or unit, the floor number and the specific room number is designated.

For example:
J117: J = wing (new inpatient wing)
            1 = first floor (Orthopaedics)
            17 = specific room number

Room numbers at West Toronto location

We are a large health centre, with two locations to serve you. To help you find your way, a letter is assigned to each wing or unit. The wing or unit, the floor number and the specific room number is designated.

For example:
B2: B = elevator to unit
2 = second floor (Betty and Buster Lockwood Cancer Prevention and Detection Centre)
