Diagnostic Imaging
- Mississauga
The Department of
Diagnostic Imaging at Trillium Health Centre - Mississauga
offers a complete range of diagnostic imaging services.

General Radiology
General radiography, including double contrast barium examinations
of the oesophagus, stomach, and small bowel and colon are
performed, as well as plain radiography of the extremities.

Mammography
A new low-dose, top of the line, mammography unit was installed
in 2001, and a second mammography unit will be installed within
the year for early detection of breast cancer.
Both screening and diagnostic mammography examinations will
be performed in conjunction with ultrasound and ultrasound-guided
biopsies, as required.

Bone Densitometry
Measurement of bone density for prevention
and treatment of osteoporosis is provided and computerized
summaries
are used so that patients can be followed on treatment.

Angiography/Interventional Radiology
The department offers
virtually every type of angiographic and interventional
procedure, with particular expertise
in Neurointerventional radiology.

CT Scan
Trillium’s state-of-the-art multi-detector
CT scanner has the ability to obtain volumetric 3D imaging
and to perform
virtual bronchoscopy, 3D assessment of spinal injuries and
fractures, intracranial, aortic and peripheral angiography,
and CT fluoroscopy.

Nuclear Medicine
Four nuclear medicine cameras are available,
including three with tomographic capability. A full range
of nuclear medicine
services is offered, including bone scans, liver/spleen
scans, labelled red blood cell scans of the liver and
spleen, lung scans, thyroid scans, renal scans and exercise
cardiac
stress tests to evaluate for ischemic heart disease.

Ultrasound
Five new state-of-the-art ultrasound machines
provide ultrasound imaging of the abdomen and pelvis, obstetrical
ultrasound,
doppler evaluation, musculoskeletal ultrasound and ultrasound
of the breast, thyroid, parotid glands, and testicles.

MRI Scan
A full range of MRI services is provided, including
MRI scanning of the head and spine, hips, knees and shoulders.
MRI scanning
of the kidneys, liver and pancreas is offered, as well
as MRI angiography of the head and neck.
