Medicine
Oncology Clinic
- Mississauga
The Oncology Clinic
provides consultation, investigation, and diagnosis for patients
with cancer or a blood disorder. A multi-disciplinary team
of oncologists, haematologists, nurses, social workers, dietitians,
and pharmacists provide assessment, patient education, chemotherapy,
transfusions, procedures, community follow-up and coordination
of care.
Planning
is underway for a Pain and Symptom Management Clinic to be
led by an Advanced Practice Nurse. The Clinic will support
cancer patients who wish to live at home while managing their
symptoms, minimizing hospital admissions and emergency room
visits.
NOTE:
the Oncology Clinic is presently located at Trillium - Mississauga.
The Clinic will relocate to new, expanded space at the West
Toronto location in the fall of 2007. It will then be renamed
the Betty and Buster Lockwood Cancer Detection and Treatment
Centre, in honour of two major donors.
Infusion
Clinic
Infusion
devices are used to provide patients with chemotherapy in
their home when this is the best option. Trillium supports
this service with two nurses on call 24/7. These are the same
nurses that patients get to know from the Oncology Clinic.
