Inpatient Mental Health - Mississauga
Trillium's forty-two bed Inpatient Mental Health Unit provides
assessment, diagnosis, treatment and aftercare planning for
adults experiencing an acute mental health issue. An eight
bed Geriatric Mental Health Unit, provides the same services
to patients who are over the age of sixty-five.
Both units strive to help patients return to the community
as soon as possible, and ensure the supports are in place
to make this transition as smooth as possible.
Referral: Patients are admitted to the Inpatient Mental
Health Unit or Geriatric Mental Health Unit based on the assessment
recommendation of a Trillium Health Centre-affiliated psychiatrist.
Programs: The unit is staffed by a multidisciplinary
team that includes psychiatrists, nurses, social workers,
occupational therapists, psychologists and pharmacists. In
collaboration with each patient, the treatment team develops
an individual treatment plan which reflects each individuals
unique treatment needs. Programs included in the treatment
plan may include individual sessions with the nurses and psychiatrists
and group programs/activities.
