Department of Laboratory Medicine
Up to 85% of doctors’ decisions about diagnosis and treatment are based on laboratory test results. At Trillium Health Centre, the Department of Laboratory Medicine performs tests and procedures that provide critical information to doctors, enabling then to diagnose, treat and monitor their patients’ conditions.

Our technical, medical and clerical staff all work together to provide high quality diagnostic and consultative services for our patients.
Guided by our well-developed Comprehensive Quality Assurance Program, we consistently deliver reliable results in an efficient and timely manner. We treat each specimen as if it belongs to a family member.
Locations and Services
Through our central laboratory at Trillium’s Mississauga location and our core laboratory at the West Toronto location, Trillium Health Centre’s Laboratory Services support inpatients, emergency, and clinic patients. We provide a broad range of technical and clinical services in:
- Biochemistry
- Haematology
- Microbiology
- Transfusion Medicine
- Pathology / Cytology
- Flow Cytometry
Our laboratory also supports the specialized needs of our very active Emergency & Urgent Care Centres, Regional Advanced Cardiac, Orthopaedics, Vascular, Neurosciences and Stroke programs.
Trillium Health Centre’s laboratories at both sites are fully accredited through the Ontario Laboratory Accreditation program.
