at Trillium
The Occupational Therapists of Trillium Health Centre are
committed to the provision of excellent service to all of
their customers. Reflective, client-centred practice is facilitated
through quality improvement and professional development activities.
The more than 50 Occupational Therapists at Trillium are
regulated by the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario.
Many also are members of the Canadian Association of Occupational
Therapists and the Ontario Society of Occupational Therapists.
Support in the delivery of some services is provided by Occupational
Therapist Assistants, graduates of recognized certificate
programs.
Occupational therapists work in each of the health systems
throughout various programs and units and are directly responsible
to the respective managers. Discipline-specific processes
and practices on a corporate level are coordinated by the
Professional Practice Leader - Occupational Therapy (PPL).
Under the leadership of the PPL, the occupational therapy
discipline group meets monthly for business and professional
development meetings. Four committees drive the professional
activities of the clinicians: Quality Assurance, Occupational
Therapy Promotion, Standards of Practice, and Professional
Development.
Many student occupational therapists and student occupational
therapist assistants complete fieldwork placements throughout
the year at Trillium. In the summer of 2001, Trillium Health
Centre met all the fieldwork education site approval (5 year)
requirements set by the Canadian Association of Occupational
Therapists and the Association of Canadian Occupational Therapy
University Programs and is entitled to receive both national
and international occupational therapy students.
