Spiritual and Religious
Care
"We
support and encourage the physical, emotional and spiritual
well being of our staff and those we serve."
The team in Spiritual
and Religious Care recognizes that the needs and traditions
of people with different faiths is an important part of each
individual's personal care and well being, both in the hospital
and at home in the community.
Working in partnership
with Trillium's health care providers, Spiritual and Religious
Care ensures that a spiritual ministry is available to patients
and families in accordance with their faith and their expressed
desire for care. By tapping into the faith and religious resources
available in the community, the team also endeavours to provide
comfort, strength and solace to those directly or indirectly
affected by illness.
The team is available
to address spiritual and religious concerns; arrange for prayer
or sacraments; provide a Bible, Holy Book or other inspirational
material; or to arrange for a visit from the patient's own
faith representative or from a Trillium Health Centre Chaplain.

Spiritual and Religious
Care Council
Trillium's Spiritual
and Religious Care Council offers a channel for the exchange
of information, ideas and recommendations between faith communities
and Trillium Health Centre. Supporting spiritual and religious
care communities at Trillium, the Council provides opportunities
for interfaith dialogue among faith communities and takes
an active role in sponsoring or supporting events designed
to promote education related to spiritual and religious care.
Membership is open
to patients, relatives, staff, physicians, residents, volunteers,
students and lay people, and clergy who are committed to spiritual
and religious care at Trillium Health Centre. Those who register
through the Spiritual and Religious Care office are considered
to be members.
The Spiritual &
Religious Care Executive, twelve people elected by the Council,
conduct the business of the Council between meetings. The
Council meets at least three times per year.

Language Communication

whose first language is not English.
