Register to Have Your Baby

 
Congratulations! Welcome to Trillium Health Centre’s Birthing Services. We are honoured that you have chosen Trillium to be part of this special moment in you and your baby's life.

To register to have your baby at Trillium, follow the steps below.

Steps to register for your babies birth

1. Visit your doctor or midwife to confirm your pregnancy.  

*Please note: To have your baby at Trillium Health Centre, your doctor or midwife must have privileges to deliver babies at Trillium.

2. Register for your Prenatal Session

If you are:

  1. a pregnant mother planning a vaginal birth or caesarean section, your doctor or midwife will provide you with a Prenatal Package asking you to book a Prenatal Registration Session at our Prenatal Service Department (located in the Family Care Centre at Trillium - Mississauga location).
    • Should be booked when you are between 16 – 24 weeks pregnant.
    • Offered days, evenings and weekends.
    • Approximately 3 hours in length for the whole session.
    • During this session you will:
      • meet briefly with a registered nurse to review your health history
      • watch a video and be given a tour of Trillium’s birthing suites
      • be provided with information about healthy choices for you and your baby during pregnancy, warning signs of labour, what to expect in hospital, what to bring to hospital and your birth plan.
    • To reduce the number of visits, we hold these as group sessions. We are unable to accommodate children.
    • Remember to bring with you:
      • Health Card ( you will be registered under the name provided on your health card)
      • Health Insurance coverage
      • The Prenatal Package with COMPLETED registration forms

  2. a pregnant mother wanting a vaginal birth after caesarean section (VBAC), a referral to the VBAC Clinic (Vaginal Birth After Caesarean Clinic) will be considered by your doctor or midwife based on the following criteria:
    • Two years since your last birth
    • Previous birth records are available
    • you have had only one caesarean section

    If after discussion with your doctor or midwife, you choose to have a VBAC please contact the Prenatal Service Department to book a VBAC Clinic appointment. This appointment will also include your Prenatal Registration.

    • The VBAC sessions are held once every two months on Wednesday mornings.
    • The purpose of the VBAC session is to provide you with the tools necessary to make an informed decision about trialing labour.
    • Please be prepared to stay for approximately 4 hours. To reduce the number of visits, we hold these as group sessions. We are unable to accommodate children.
    • Remember to bring with you:
      • Health Card
      • Health insurance coverage
      • The Prenatal Package with the COMPLETED registration forms

3. Childbirth Education Classes

Prenatal classes offer women the opportunity to learn about the many aspects of pregnancy, birth and after-birth period.

We suggest that you take your classes between 28 – 34 weeks of pregnancy. Class size is limited so be sure to register early.

Childbirth Education Classes are offered in:
Days Time
Weekly Series
2 hour session, once a week for 6 weeks 		6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.
Weekends Series
2 day session
Saturday/Saturday or
Saturday/Sunday		 9 a.m.- 4 p.m.

All classes are held at Trillium - Mississauga location in the Family Care Centre. The fee for our class is $175.

The fee for this review is $95.00.
