Construction Update
– Progress Report - April 1, 2008
Mississauga New
Wing
Curtain wall installation
has begun on the second floor northeast corner of the west
wing. Roof decking for the building’s penthouse is now
complete, while laying of modified sheet roofing is underway.
Mechanical and electrical work continues up to the sixth floor.
The 25 foot long steel, green beam that was signed by staff,
physicians, volunteers, patients and community members on
February 20th was lifted into the penthouse roof structure
this month. Photos of this event are available on the construction

Mississauga Renovations
Demolition of walls
in the main floor Ultrasound area is nearly complete, while
removal of flooring is now underway. Mechanical and electrical
work is also in progress.
Correction of minor deficiency work is underway in the second
floor Cardiac Catheterization Lab area. The new Cath Lab is
scheduled to open on April 3rd.
Demolition of walls and ceiling removals in the second floor
cardiovascular operating room (CVOR) has begun. The new CVOR
will be complete this September.
West Toronto
Roofing and curtain
wall installation is in progress in the new Trillium Way area.
Mechanical and electrical rough-in are ongoing in ancillary
surgical care area.
Demolition of existing terrazzo floor in the new waiting area
for the Urgent Care Centre is now completed. Mechanical and
electrical work is in progress in new waiting area as well
as in the second floor new Betty and Buster Lockwood Cancer
Detection and Treatment Centre, which will open this August.
