Construction Update – Progress Report - December 1, 2008

Mississauga New Wing

With the completion of the curtain wall work, the new inpatient wing was closed in by late November. Finishing work, including millwork and door installations continue on the second and third floors, while furniture is being installed on the third floor. Mechanical and electrical installations are ongoing and plumbing has progressed to the third and fourth floors.

Normal power was turned on in the new wing on October 7 and the commissioning of major equipment and systems has since begun. 

Framing work and installation of drywall is about 90 per cent complete on the ground floor, while the concourse exterior and interior wall systems are about 70 per cent complete.

Mississauga Renovations

Commissioning of systems in the new cardiovascular operating room is currently in progress. Contractors are painting the walls and ceilings, installing flooring and furniture in the CVOR.

Work continues on the ground floor, with boarding of walls and mechanical and electrical work in the walls and ceiling.

West Toronto

Finishing work is in progress in the phase two area of the Urgent Care Centre. Ongoing work includes painting of walls and ceilings, vinyl floor and T-bar ceiling installation. Mechanical and electrical contractors are installing fixtures, devices and trim. HVAC balancing and fire alarm testing is in progress after hours. Phase two of the Urgent Care Centre is expected to open in mid-December.
