Construction Update – Progress Report - July 7, 2008

Mississauga New Wing

Masonry installations on the north side of the West Wing and are approximately 90% complete, while the south side is approximately 70% complete.

Curtain wall installation on the north side of the structure is 95% complete.  The same type of work is underway on the west face of the main floor.  Curtain wall sun shade elements are being installed on the west side.

Interior drywall installation proceeds on the second level, while mechanical and electrical work continues through to sixth floor.

Mississauga Renovations

Mechanical and electrical work in progress in the main floor Phase Two Ultrasound area.  Stud framing of walls has been substantially completed, while drywall installation work is in progress.

Construction of the second floor Phase One cardiac services operating room continues with wall stud framing work and mechanical and electrical rough-ins.  Contractors are working to construct temporary waterproof hoarding in preparation for the roof slab removal.

West Toronto

Construction of new sidewalks and curbs continues outside the south entrance of West Toronto.  Installation of aluminum framing for the new entrance vestibule is in progress, while vinyl and terrazzo flooring is nearing completion.  Millwork installation at the Urgent Care Centre central station has begun.  Contractors are installing light fixtures and electrical devices in the treatment areas ceilings.

Construction of the new Betty and Buster Lockwood Cancer Detection and Treatment Centre continues with the completion of the mechanical and electrical rough-ins in all rooms.  Drywall boarding is now in progress on all interior partitions, while the exterior curtain wall and window system is being installed on the south and east elevations. 

The Trillium Way is quickly nearing completion with the painting of the roof structure, ducts and conduits at high ceiling level.  Glazing of high span curtain wall and drywall boarding of feature ceiling area is progress.  Drywall taping and finishing is well advanced in the Surgicentre ancillary area and north wall of the Trillium Way.  Exterior wall finishing is also in progress on the north and west elevations of the Trillium Way.
