Construction Update
– Progress Report - October 1, 2007
Mississauga New
Wing
Construction has
progressed to the second floor of the new tower and the first
section at the west end was poured on Friday, September 28th.
Scheduled work for early October includes the continuing reinforcement
placement for the balance of the second floor slab sections.
The pour of the main floor slab section adjacent to the existing
building will also take place this month. Work also continues
on the second floor and on the exterior service tunnel which
will link the existing building to the new wing.
Activity to locate and inspect a main water valve which is
suspected to have been installed in 2003 began this month.
Main slab reinforcement continues and the second section of
slab has been poured. Decking support for the second floor
slab and the first section of formwork is underway. Reinforcement
and pouring of slab on grade sections at the east side, near
the existing building is near completion.

Second floor roof
removal work over the new Catherization Lab is nearing completion.
Delivery of structural steel roof framing took place in mid-September
and the roof framing work has begun. Metal deck installation
continues in this area and roofing membrane installation will
follow. Work to install a skylight over the new waiting area
has started. Third floor window replacement work is in progress.
Also on the second floor, installation of ventilation ductwork,
electrical conduits and plumbing services are in progress.
Wall and ceiling framing work continues, while mechanical
and electrical installations inside the framed walls nears
completion. Drywall installation has begun and suspended ceiling
work requires drilling into the underside of the third floor
concrete slab to install hangers.
On the main floor, installation of the ventilation ductwork
and mechanical and electrical rough-ins continue. Electrical
services work to pull new power cables from the main electrical
room over the existing roof, through the main floor corridor
and up to the second floor is underway.
West Toronto
Excavation and installation
of footings and foundation members associated with the new
build has been completed. Foundation pours are in progress
and will be completed by mid-October.
Main floor and second floor interior renovations work, including
mechanical and electrical rough-ins, continues. The canopy
at the Urgent Care Centre Entrance (south entrance) is scheduled
to be demolished on October 10th and 11th during which time
the Urgent Care Centre entrance will be closed and traffic
will be re-routed through the Surgicentre entrance. Please
