Redevelopment at Trillium
Trillium Health Centre is transforming health care to deliver
patient-centred health care in a warm and welcoming environment
that redefines the notion of a hospital.
We’ve already made great strides
in achieving our goal but the momentum is increasing as we
create new spaces and renovate existing facilities at our
West Toronto and Mississauga locations.
The renovations
integrate creative architecture, the best clinical practices,
state-of-the-art technology and patient-centred care.
Work began in March
2007 and is made possible through a partnership between the
Province of Ontario and Trillium Health Centre with the support
of our community.
West Toronto -
The Trillium Way

The Trillium Way
will welcome patients and visitors with a warm and sun-filled
environment that is barrier-free and easy to navigate. This
innovative design will feature wide open and inviting spaces,
comfortable furnishings and a living wall of plants –
The Healing Garden – to nurture the spirit and help
re-define the notion of a hospital.
The Trillium Way is home to Trillium's award-winning Ambulatory
Care Centre.

surroundings. State-of-the art technology will blend with
the amenities and ambience of a health and wellness centre,
complete with skylight and natural materials. The new Urgent
Care Centre is built around the concept of a circle: inclusive,
unified and harmonious.

Mississauga
New Wing
A
new seven-storey inpatient wing will showcase the innovative
thinking and patient-centred philosophy fueling Trillium’s
mission to transform the health care experience. The wing
will provide 135 new beds in patient-friendly, barrier-free
rooms. Each patient space features a window, privacy and plenty
of room for visitors.
The building itself will use energy efficient materials, significantly
reducing operating costs. Trillium is a recognized leader
in sustainable energy practice; it is the first multi-site
hospital in the world to be awarded ISO 14001 for its environmental
standards.
The new wing will provide new spaces for our Paediatric Care
Unit, Oncology Unit and Cardiac Centre. Construction began
in March 2007 and will be completed by spring 2009.
Cardiac Centre
A new Cardiac Centre
will offer patients leading-edge expertise and the latest
diagnostics and treatment technology, including a new Cardiac
Catheterization Lab and a third Cardiac Operating Room. This
additional capacity will ensure our program’s ability
to manage current and future volumes. The cardiac expansion
is scheduled for completion in the fall of 2008.
