How Active Are You?

Take the Healthy Physical Activity Participation Questionnaire

A. Answer the following questions:

Frequency: Over a typical 7-day period (1 week), how many times do you engage in physical activity that is sufficiently prolonged and intense to cause sweating and a rapid heart beat?

i) At least three times     ii) Normally once or twice     iii) Rarely or never

Intensity: When you engage in physical activity, do you have the impression that you:

i) Make an intense effort     ii) Make a moderate effort     iii) Make a light effort

Perceived Fitness: In a general fashion, would you say your current physical fitness is

How Much Physical Activity is Enough?

Guidelines suggest that the minimum volume of exercise needed for extremely frail, older persons is that which uses 500 kilocalories per week, For all others it’s that which expends 1000 kilocalories per week (Warburton et al., 2006).
